Directions of magnetization

The directions of magnetization...

The directions of magnetization of the permanent magnet are very important and divide them in two categories:
isotropic and anisotropic.

This distinction is related to the preferred direction by which we understand the orientation of the magnetic crystals in a certain direction.

In this preferred direction the magnet reaches its highest magnetic values and has to be magnetized in this direction to obtain the best results for the specific application required.

Isotropic Magnets

Isotropic magnets have no preferred direction.
For this reason it is possible to select any direction and type of magnetization.

Anisotropic Magnets

Anisotropic magnets are presed in a magnetic field and have for this reason a preferred direction.

They have only in this preferred direction good magnetic properties and can be magnetized only in this direction.
At the same magnetic volume a higher magnetic flux is obtained than with isotropic magnets.
The remanence is approximately doubled.
