Title: The magnetic controls of stators and rotors: from the individual parts to the finished product

Abstract

The speech purpose is to illustrate how to verify the conformity of rotors and stators to specific magnetic requirements. This is done in two steps. First of all, the quality control on single magnetic components, mainly electrical steels and permanent magnets, with the purpose to statistically verify their intrinsic properties and any eventual influence due to the manufacturing process.
Afterwards, the control on the assembled and magnetized part, through the measure of the total flux and total magnetic mapping. The set of data obtainable, such as field vs. angle/position, harmonic analysis, skew detection, etc., provides a complete qualification of the magnetization process and of the goodness of the final product.
